Thomas Cheyne caught at Canterbury

Thomas Cheyne after a few days roaming eastern Kent arrived at the walls of Canterbury. How he was caught is not known, but it was some of the citizens of Canterbury that arrested him, so I should imagine some subterfuge and infiltrations was involved.

Archbishop Stafford Resigns as Chancellor

Archbishop Stafford, seeing the power of the political faction crumbling, and his colleague murdered at Portsmouth, resigned as Chancellor. The Archbishop of York took over the role as chancellor. It is unlikely that Stafford, also being the Archbishop of Canterbury would have heard of Cheyne’s capture on this day, but he would have certainly been aware of the rebels movement in his back yard.
